Egypt’s electoral map emerging after second round poll

Millions of Egyptians voted in droves in the second round of elections today following a campaign in which rival Islamist groups faced off and secular liberals fought to claw back credibility as a political force. A Cairo court has dropped two charges against Alaa Abd El Fattah (above), a prominent blogger and activist, according to Al-Masry Al-Youm. He was reportedly remanded to spend 15 days in custody while investigations continue into the ‘Maspero massacre’ of 27 people, mainly Coptic Christians, on 9 October.
