Peru Bound
Many people have asked me, “After all you’ve seen and done, how can you still send your daughter and son-in-law to a place where you know traffickers thrive and law enforcement colludes?”
All I can say is, “I don’t know, but if I figure it out I’ll let you know.” What I mean is that I could not send them, nor do I know how to let go even as they choose to go.
Knowing David and Whitney will not return to the States for at least three years, I stood for a long while watching Diane and Tom Milton (David’s parents) say their loving and teary-eyed goodbyes. Then I watched my husband Milton reassert the lessons he’s been long preparing them with, followed by his final blessing. (...)
