Saving Lives, Training Minds, and Tending Hearts

About six years ago, one of the brightest and best students in our New Life Ministry orphanage on the border of Darfur went missing, Mary Achu. This was before our orphanage was completed and all we could do was provide food, education, discipleship, and scant medical care. With no housing yet available, most of our orphans slept in the open bush, or if they could find a tree they would sleep in high in its boughs in order to avoid hyenas.

With no other food or education available in the community, it was never a good sign when one of our students didn’t show up for class. It took us three days to find Mary. (...)
